The ‘Agneepath’ screening was a hit, stars applaud the performances of all the three leads actors and now it’s time for the audience for whom the film is made to give their verdict. When Karan Johar announced that he is going to remake Amitabh Bachchan starrer Agneepath’ where he has played Dinanath Chauhan, many questions arise whether he will able to do justice to the original, whether Hrithik Roshan’s performance would stand up to the level of Amitabh Bachchan. As the film opened to the audience, all the questions surrounding the film has been answered.

‘Agneepath’ from no angle looked a remake of the original. The concept remains the same but it is totally refreshing. The characters are represented in a refreshing way. When you get set to watch the film, the question of remaking immediately goes from your mind. Director Karan Malhotra has done full justice to the film. Every character tells a different story and has its own rawness. Describing the story in a simple way, ‘Agneepath’ is a story of revenge. The film rides high on emotions and actions.

Karan Johar has kept the characters intact as the original only with a little change. He has dropped the character Krishnan Iyer MA, which was played by Mithun Chakraborty instead he has introduced a negative personality Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor), who makes the script even more explosive.

Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Hrithik Roshan) is an angry young man from a small village Mandwa whose life was not better than a hell made by evil drug dealer Kancha (Sanjay Dutt). His childhood was very painful; he has seen the dark side of life. He saw his father (Chetan Pandit) hang to death by Kancha. He saw his mother and sister’s struggle and pain.

With so much bad in life, Vijay’s now only aims to take revenge upon Kancha. To make himself stronger and powerful than Kancha, he went to Mumbai and joins the team of gang lord Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor) in Mumbai. His best friend Kaali (Priyanka Chopra) stands by him in every good and bad moment of his life. After 15 years when Vijay returns to Mumbai, he was a different person, very much stronger and determined but his aim remains the same, to take revenge on Kancha. How Vijay takes his revenge and what he goes through forms an interesting part of the film.

Speaking about the characters, Hrithik Roshan has brought alive the angry man image. He completely gets into the role delivers his best. He never tried to copy Amitabh Bachchan. He has portayed the role in his own way and possesses his own style. Sanjay Dutt as Kancha was superb. He was very dreadful and evokes fear. Rishi Kapoor has also delivered his best. Priyanka Chopra has a little scope to enact but still able to impress her audience. Zarina Wahab, Om Puri others are also good in their respective languages.

Karan Malhotra has taken a very bold step in his directional debut to remake a film like ‘Agneepath’, of which Amitabh Bachchan immortalized the character Vijay Dinanath Chauhan. He has able to bring freshness to the script and did not repeat the original one. His direction is flawless and very energetic; he has been able to bring out the best from every character. Speaking about the technical side, Ajay-Atul's music scores high, ‘Chikni Chameli’, ‘Deva Shree Ganesha’ brought charm to the narration. Ravi K Chandran's cinematography was very impressive. The fights and dance sequences makes an impact. Piyush Mishra's dialogue is the plus point of the movie.

In the nutshell, the new ‘Agneepath’ has its own charm. It is an apt tribute to the original. As Amitabh Bachchan also named by his character Vijay Dinanath Chauhan from today Hrithik Roshan will be marked as second Vijay D. Chauhan. It will bring a good box-office return. The new ‘Agneepath’ has created a new benchmark.
